Security firm Reflex Systems raising $10M - Georgia Business News

Internet security firm Reflex Systems LLC has raised about a quarter of a planned $10 million round, according to a Securities Exchange Commission filing.

Atlanta-based Reflex develops management and security software products to protect virtual networks

In April 2009, the company raised $8.5 million in a round led by RFA Management Company LLC, an Atlanta-based private investment firm.

Using virtualization software, companies can run seven to 10 small servers inside a single large physical server. Turning hardware into software, virtualization saves businesses real estate, electricity and maintenance costs. Reflex?s software helps manage virtual networks ? allowing certain servers to communicate with others and ensuring who has access to information on the servers.

Reflex Systems was created from the 2008 reorganization of Reflex Security, which sold network security software and hardware to the manufacturing, banking, health-care, education and high-tech industries. The reorganization took place after Reflex decided to shift its focus away from security toward virtualization management.

Reflex Security, founded in 2000 by former Georgia Tech student and Israeli Army officer Hezi Moore, raised more than $25 million from private equity firm Spencer Trask Ventures Inc. and the founders of Atlanta-based pest control company Rollins Inc. (NYSE: ROL).
