I really wanted my guests to be surprised by a packet of information and goodies to get them excited for their coming trip to our destination wedding. It is coming so quickly!
So I decided to send a packet to each couple (or single, in some cases) between the two-month and six-week marks in our countdown. The packet contained luggage tags, a CD full of island music, a packing list, and a brochure about the resort and wedding week.
Luggage Tags:
I utilized vistapint (vistaprint.ca) a lot throughout my wedding planning. They frequently had (less-so now, but still good deals) free items even! My luggage tags were actually vistaprint business cards (free!) I designed online. On the back, I put our location and date. Then I used the same method of ?laminating? that I did with my bookmarks (here: http://thebudgetsavvybride.com/diy-laminated-bookmarks/). With my trusty roll of packing tape (used only on the back, so people can write on the front), I had personalized luggage tags for my guests.
CD:
I really toyed with the idea of including a CD. I wanted to include the music, but to a lot of people, CDs are venturing into the realm of the archaic. But my coworker ? who I carpool with ? pointed out to me that most people would have vehicles that came with CD players still. Okay, a CD it was.
I DIY?d the CD sleeves. I just folded some paper, following an image search on pinterest. I cut out a list of songs included on the CD on blue paper, and glued that to the inside. Recordable CDs were purchased at Walmart, and I downloaded the music at home to make the copies. I labeled each CD with a sharpie, with our names, the date and location, and the warning label: ?Caution: May Cause Intense Island Day-Dreaming; Listen at Your Own Leisure?.
This is the list of songs that made the final cut, onto the CD:
- Burning Love
- When The Night Feels My Song (Hey Beautiful Day)
- Brighter Than The Sun
- One Love
- Three Little Birds
- God Only Knows
- I?m Yours
- Stand By Me
- Honey Honey
- Wipeout
- Steal My Sunshine
- Don?t Worry, Be Happy
- Hot, Hot, Hot
- Say Hey (I Love You)
- I Can Hear Music
- Lovely Day
- Toes
- Vacation
- In The Summertime
- Walking On Sunshine
- Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
- Zoom Zoom Zoom
- Changes In Attitudes, Changes In Latitudes
?
I have an eclectic taste in music, but wanted to include happy music that immediately made people think of the sand, sea and sun, and, oh yes, love and happiness!

Packing List:
?
I got this packing list at Michaels a couple years ago; it actually is designed to stick on the fridge. I carefully wrote out the list by hand, and then tore off a blank sheet for people to make their own notes on. The list was in the $1.50 bin.
?
Brochure:
?
I designed these on Word, printed them off on my home computer, cut them out, and glued them to regular cardstock. I am very happy with how they turned out. I included information about our destination, bits of trivia (a nod, albeit a subtle one, to my daily ?did you know?? in my classroom), information about dress codes at our resort, hotels we will stay at en route, travel details, and so on.
?
?
Altogether, my only new expenses were the CDs, and postage. I previously had the packing lists, and paper, but even those were inexpensive (the paper was a large packet from Staples).
?
So do you think this will help get my guests excited about the wedding and destination?
